Dabaang was the rebirth of Bollywood. After a series of flops in 2010, apart from Golmaal 3 which also did fairly well, the Dabaang (meaning fearless) movie came to the rescue in the form of Chulbul Pandey. It was a movie that had everything in it, dance, drama, comedy, action, romance, you name it. The 35 crore budget film which has only one or two foreign locations made triple the amount of profits.
The story was a typical Bollywood story where in the end the family comes together and everything is avenged for. Not to forget, the shirt ripping scene of Salman Khan without which the movie would have been incomplete. The songs are also melodious to listen to. The song Tere Mast Mast Do Nain is a beautiful number that will have your foot tapping. The title track has Salman Khan dancing making some of the now signature moves. Then there will always be Munni i.e. Malaika Arora Khan dancing to the song of the year, Munni Badnaam Hui.
Sonakshi Sinha is a fresh face to watch though she has just to play as arm candy and plays it well. Salman Khan is at his best acting in the movie and even more natural in front of the camera. The movie is not intellectually inspiring or anything of that sort and does not even pretend to be so. It is a movie that provides sheer entertainment to a person who has had a hectic week. One is suppose to leave behind their worries when watching this film. A family entertainment movie that is to be forgotten the moment you get out of the theatre expect for the ultimate dialogue “Chedi Singh, main tumme itne ched kar dunga ke tum conphuj ho jaooge ki saas kaha se lena hai aur paadna kaha se hai.”
